6 CHILDREN RESCUED FROM FIRE, WOMAN CHARGED
Neighbours rescued six children from a Yangebup house fire. A 38 year old woman has been charged with failing to protect children from harm.

A 38 year old Yangebup woman has been charged with failing to protect children from harm after neighbours rescued six children from a house fire in Perth’s south.
According to The West Australian, the children were reportedly alone when the blaze broke out before 8pm on Friday, 2 October 2026.
Neighbours used a garden hose against the flames. One resident, identified as Joel, entered the smoke filled home to help rescue the children.
“All our concern was getting those kids out,” said Michelle, Joel’s mother.
The six children were taken to hospital as a precaution and were reported uninjured. Joel and another neighbour were also taken to hospital.
The West Australian reported that the fire was ruled accidental, with a rug understood to have caught alight while the stove was being used.
The Department of Communities told 7NEWS it did not comment on specific child protection matters, but said it was responsible for investigating incidents and could conduct risk assessments when required.
